Tina Louise

Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen was a natural athlete and loved playing athletic games. The passion she had for sport was coupled with an equally natural talent for being a performer. Her talent was exemplified by being the recipient of nearly every Feis award for drama and musical performances that her country could offer. At the age of 14, she was admitted to the world-renowned Abbey Theater and pursued her aspirations of classical theatre and operatic vocals. Charles Laughton became captivated with Maureen's hauntingly gorgeous eyes after watching a screen-test. In the days before she was cast to play in Jamaica Inn (1939), Laughton together with his friend, Erich Pommer, changed her name instead of Maureen FitzSimons to "Maureen O'Hara" - a bit more concise name for the marquee. Maureen was under contract with Laughton to make her next movie in America with RKO Pictures (The Hunchback of Notre The Dame, 1939). This epic movie was an extraordinary success and her contract was bought from Laughton through RKO. Maureen Laughton had appeared in two big motion pictures when she was 19.
